Apple is planning to launch the next iPhone in early September, according to reports, before actually releasing it around a week and a half after that.

The company plans to hold the event in the week of September 7, according to a BuzzFeed report that cites sources closes to Apple. The site said that the likely date is Wednesday the 9th, but it’s possible that it could actually take place the day before. Apple’s recent iPhone events have taken place on Tuesdays the same week, and so the event may actually happen on the 8th.

The company tends to hold its iPhone launch events in early September, and then release them on the Friday of the following week. All of the iPhone’s since the 4S have been released to the public within a day of September 20, and on that schedule the release of the next iPhone would come on September 18.
